Growing Through Service - Canvassing Story Part 4

  By: A Student of Canvasser

When I first joined the canvassing program, I felt nervous and unsure, especially when speaking to strangers. However, with guidance and practice, I gradually learned how to greet people, introduce myself, and present the books we were offering. Although I made mistakes at the beginning, I was encouraged when someone accepted a book. That moment gave me confidence and a sense of mission.

Throughout the journey, I met many different kinds of people. Some were very open and supportive, while others had questions or concerns. These experiences taught me how to listen patiently, respond kindly, and always represent Christ with humility and grace. I realized that our role is to share faithfully and trust God with the results.

There was a moment that tested my perspective. Someone gave me money and said not to “beg anymore.” Though the comment was unexpected, I responded respectfully and kept going, remembering that my work was a form of service, not asking. Not long after, I met someone who generously supported the ministry and offered kind words. That reminded me that God sees every effort and knows our hearts.

I also had the blessing of hearing personal testimonies from people I met. One of them shared their journey of coming to faith in Jesus from a different religious background. Stories like that reminded me that God works in many ways to reach people’s hearts.

There were times when I didn’t sell as many books as I hoped, but I believe that every interaction was meaningful. Each smile, each prayer, and each conversation was a chance to serve and reflect God’s love.

Canvassing is more than selling books—it’s a ministry of growth, faith, and service. I’ve learned to rely on God, to stay hopeful, and to keep going with joy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow spiritually and to take part in this mission.
