Learning to Trust God… Like a Guinea Pig?

Image
Have you ever owned a guinea pig? Or even just watched one closely? I used to have one.      Guinea pigs are adorable little creatures, but they’re also quite nervous by nature. When you first bring one home, it runs away, hides in corners, and won’t come near you. It doesn’t trust you—not yet. But as days go by, you keep feeding it. You speak gently. You hold it with care. Slowly, it starts to recognize you. Then one day, it does something amazing—it lets you hold it without fear. That’s trust .  What This Teaches Us About God      Our relationship with God often begins with fear or hesitation. We keep our distance. We hide behind busy routines, doubts, or past wounds. We don’t understand what He’s doing. Sometimes we even wonder, “Is it safe to trust Him?” But He keeps showing up.  He feeds our soul with grace. He speaks gently through His Word. He reaches out—not to control us, but to draw us near. And slowly, if we let Him, our h...

God Will Surely Make a Way - Canvassing story part 6

Testimony of a Student Canvasser             I’m truly grateful that God gave me the opportunity to join the canvassing program during this summer break. We began our mission in early May in Bogor, and by early June, we continued canvassing in Bandung because the books we previously brought had all been sold out.           There are countless ways God showed His goodness throughout this journey—far too many to share them all. But I would like to tell you one experience that deeply touched me, and I hope it can encourage and strengthen your faith as well.           Back in Bogor, we usually went out to canvass from 8 AM until 4 PM in business areas filled with office buildings. Many of these places had security guards, and most of the time, we weren’t allowed to go in and offer books. One day, I met a kind gardener who was very friendly to me. Althoug...

Heaven’s Appointment on Earth - Canvassing Story part 5

Testimony of a Student Canvasser                    I am deeply grateful to God for the opportunity to join a canvassing program with our team. Although I was nervous at first—especially since this was my first time going door to door to offer books—I was blessed to be surrounded by supportive teammates. Some had already gained experience in how to approach people respectfully and kindly, which helped ease my fears.           My first assignment was in the city of Bandung. That day, I was paired with our supervisor and a fellow student. I observed closely how they interacted with people, how they spoke, and how they introduced the books. I tried to follow their example, even though my words were still limited. Step by step, and with silent prayers in my heart, I began to grow in confidence—entering homes, small businesses, and shopfronts, all with the hope of planting seeds of hope through l...

Growing Through Service - Canvassing Story Part 4

Image
By: A Student of Canvasser             When I first joined the canvassing program, I felt nervous and unsure, especially when speaking to strangers. However, with guidance and practice, I gradually learned how to greet people, introduce myself, and present the books we were offering. Although I made mistakes at the beginning, I was encouraged when someone accepted a book. That moment gave me confidence and a sense of mission.           Throughout the journey, I met many different kinds of people. Some were very open and supportive, while others had questions or concerns. These experiences taught me how to listen patiently, respond kindly, and always represent Christ with humility and grace. I realized that our role is to share faithfully and trust God with the results.           There was a moment that tested my perspective. Someone gave me money and said not to “beg anymore.” T...

Where Is That Soul, Lord? - Canvassing Story Part 3

Image
By: A Student of Canvasser        During the recent Eid holiday, I joined a canvassing program in Bandung with a passionate team of fellow missionaries. I was excited—but one day, I woke up feeling unwell. My head was heavy, my body weak, and my spirit low. I wanted to rest, but something in me whispered, "Go—not for yourself, but for the team, especially the first timers who need encouragement."           By midday, my body gave in, and I had to rest in the car. I closed my eyes and prayed quietly for strength. After a short rest and a light meal, I felt a little better. I hadn’t sold a single book yet—only handed out a few tracts—but my heart longed to make a true connection. So I prayed, “Lord, where is that soul? Please lead me to them.”           That prayer renewed me. Soon, I met a man sitting alone by the roadside. He was unemployed, recently injured by a car battery, homeless, and deeply burdened. I...

Heaven’s Receipt- Canvassing Story Part 2

Image
One day, I was out walking, distributing the books we were selling. Along the way, I came across a woman who owned a small street-side shop. I approached her and offered the books I had. After I shared what they were about, she looked at me and said, “Actually, I’m really interested in one of these books. But I honestly don’t have any money right now. I just reopened my shop today after being closed for a long time, and it’s still early in the morning so haven’t made any sales yet.”           In that moment, I could tell she genuinely wanted the book. I sensed that she needed it. So, I made a decision: I would give it to her as a gift. To me, her hunger for the message was more important than the money. At first, she refused. She felt bad, knowing I was selling the books. But I gently reassured her, “It’s okay. I’m happy to give it to you.” I didn’t linger. I smiled and continued walking, praying quietly as I went, “L...

Where I Least Expected Him - Canvassing Story part 1

Image
Canvassing is a ministry that has shaped me deeply— building my character, strengthening me mentally and spiritually. I used to be just a participant, but this time, God called me to lead. I felt completely unworthy and doubted my ability to guide others. But through the encouragement of godly friends and the strength I found in His Word, I surrendered and allowed God to use me.           When I started searching for a location, I aimed for a strategic spot in the city center. I found one, confirmed everything, and informed the team that we would stay there.  But just two days before the program began, the owner suddenly canceled our reservation. I was shocked. Discouraged. I asked God, “Where will I bring them now? What should I do?”      That’s when my parents offered their home. It wasn’t ideal, it was far from the city, but I had no other option. I was grateful they were willing to help....
